Changes are happening at Voyager, HarperCollins Australia’s SF and Fantasy imprint, with the imminent departure of publisher Stephanie Smith who is retiring at the end of the month.
Stephanie’s contribution to the development and ongoing success of Australian speculative fiction both here and abroad cannot be underestimated. In her long tenure as Voyager publisher, she has nurtured and developed many talented authors including Sara Douglass, Trudi Canavan, Glenda Larke, Russell Kirkpatrick and lots more and her support of Australian speculative fiction has been second to none. Thanks, Stephanie!
Luckily for the ongoing success and vibrancy of Voyager, Stephanie will be replaced in a couple of weeks time by experienced editor Deonie Fiford. Deonie has a great depth and breadth of experience in editing and publishing with several imprints and already has strong connections within the Australian speculative fiction community, serving as an Aurealis Awards judge and contributing to a number of spec fic manuscript development initiatives. Voyager is in safe hands and we wish Deonie the very best of luck in discovering and nurturing the next generation of Australian speculative fiction talent.
