coeur de lion is proud to announce the official line up for our forthcoming science fiction anthology Anywhere But Earth. Coming in late 2011, 29 original stories of humanity’s adventures out there, anywhere but Earth. A twelve month reading period where we’ve received and read over 300 submissions from all over the world, but the dust is finally settling and we’re almost finalised our decisions. For statisticians among you the selection rate for stories submitted was a smidge under 9%, which is pretty normal [...] It’s just over a month to the close of submissions for our new science fiction anthology Anywhere But Earth, so to celebrate we’re revealing the first cover mockup to an anxious public, and we think it looks pretty cool. No doubt there will be tweaks and changes before final print, but the main elements are in [...] The very nice, and dare we say talented, Max Barry had this to say in a segment on Summer Reading on ABC’s First Tuesday Book [...] We couldn’t be happier here at coeur de lion after hearing that Margo Lanagan won a well-deserved World Fantasy Award over the weekend for her truly wonderful X6 novella, ‘Sea-Hearts’. This caps a fantastic year for our little anthology which has scooped an Aurealis, Ditmar and Sir Julius Vogel award and made the Tiptree Honour list [...] Over at the Trentonomicon, X6 author Trent Jamieson has decided to share pretty much all he knows about writing, which – given he’s sold over sixty short stories, bagged more than one Aurealis Award, and his new Death Works trilogy is currently being published by Orbit – is quite a bit. We reckon there’s something [...] Regardless of what some retailers may be trying to tell us, Christmas is still months off, but it is true that it’s probably a good time to start thinking about what you might buy your loved one (or yourself), especially if you’re buying presents on-line.
